The Galaxy Watch can now control your Samsung air conditioner to optimize your sleep automatically. Samsung has just highlighted its feature WindFree Wearable Good Sleep, an unprecedented bridge between its smartwatches and its Bespoke AI air conditioners.
A simple idea: let the watch decide for you
Manually adjusting the air conditioning before sleeping is a common habit, but it doesn't solve the real problem. The ideal temperature for falling asleep is not the same as what's needed to stay in deep sleep, nor to wake up gently. This is precisely the limitation Samsung has been trying to correct since May 25, 2026, with the official highlighting of this connected mode.
The Good Sleep mode of Bespoke AI WindFree air conditioners automatically adjusts the temperature according to the different sleep phases. Until now, this function already existed on Samsung air conditioners, but it worked on a timer programmed in advance. The change in 2026 consists of replacing this timer with biological data captured in real-time by your wrist or finger.
How biometric data controls your devices
As soon as the Galaxy Watch or Galaxy Ring detects that the user has fallen asleep, it sends a signal to the air conditioner to activate the Good Sleep mode. If the air conditioner was off, it turns on at the adapted target temperature. If it was already running but at too cold a temperature, it automatically adjusts to a more comfortable setting.
The Good Sleep mode structures the night into three distinct phases. During sleep onset, the temperature drops by 1 to 2°C compared to the setpoint temperature, for a duration of up to one hour. During deep sleep, it rises by 1 to 2°C and is maintained between two and seven hours, a duration adjustable by the user. Finally, the wake-up phase raises the temperature by 3°C with intermittent ventilation, for a gradual and comfortable awakening.
In the Bespoke AI WindFree models, this thermal management is carried out without direct airflow. WindFree Cooling technology uses 23,000 micro-perforations to diffuse air without cold drafts, ensuring a stable temperature throughout the room. The absence of direct airflow reduces dryness and night chills, two common causes of waking up in the middle of the night.
Compatible devices and setup
The WindFree Wearable Good Sleep function is not accessible to all Samsung users. It is reserved for devices running One UI 4.0 or later, paired with a compatible Wear OS watch: Galaxy Watch 4 or later, Galaxy Fit 3 or later, or the Galaxy Ring. You also need to install the SmartThings app on the wearable and connect the air conditioner to your home Wi-Fi network. Only certain air conditioner models manufactured from 2024 onwards are supported.
Here are the steps to activate the mode:
Download the SmartThings app on your Galaxy Watch or Galaxy Ring
Connect the air conditioner to the same Wi-Fi network as your smartphone
Open the Samsung Watch app and go to "Sleep well with smart devices"
Alternatively, go to Settings, then Mode and routine, then Sleep
Wear the wearable during sleep
Users without a Samsung wearable can still access a standard version of the Good Sleep mode via the remote control or the SmartThings app, following a pre-programmed temperature curve, without real-time biometric feedback.
A connected ecosystem designed for the long term
This connection between wearables and air conditioners is not a new idea at Samsung. The brand had already attempted to establish this link back in 2018, long before wearables constituted a stable market. The 2026 integration therefore represents the culmination of several years of reflection, made possible by the current maturity of the SmartThings ecosystem and the precision of the biometric sensors embedded in the latest generations of Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Ring.
The Bespoke AI WindFree 2026 range includes 23 models and offers an AI Energy Mode capable of reducing electricity consumption by up to 30% compared to standard operation. The challenge for Samsung is therefore twofold: to improve users' sleep quality while positioning its air conditioners as intelligent appliances in their own right within a connected home, rather than mere cooling tools.
The WindFree Wearable Good Sleep feature illustrates a fundamental trend in the tech industry: transforming health data captured by wearables into concrete commands for everyday devices. For owners of a Galaxy Watch or Galaxy Ring paired with a Bespoke AI 2024 or 2026 air conditioner, switching to this automatic mode is a simple step that can significantly change the quality of their nights. The next logical step will be to extend this integration to other household appliances, such as shutters or heating, which the SmartThings ecosystem already makes technically feasible.
