The battery display bug on the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro following the installation of One UI 8 Watch, which causes an apparent drop in percentage without affecting actual battery life, and user feedback on forums like Reddit.
The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, released over three years ago, was praised for its excellent battery life and advanced sports features. Since the rollout of the One UI 8 Watch update based on Wear OS 6 in late 2025, many owners have reported a rapid battery drain: from 100% to 75-85% in a few minutes after unplugging.
Origin of the problem
This malfunction does not affect the actual battery, but only its display indicator. The charge indicator is poorly calibrated after the update, causing the displayed percentage to drop prematurely, while the effective charge remains close to 100%.
Users notice that the watch stays at 15-20% displayed for much longer than expected, confirming that battery life is not impacted. This bug mainly affects the Watch 5 Pro, but also sporadically the standard version.
User testimonials
On Reddit, threads are overflowing: one user describes a quick charge to 100%, followed by a drop to 85% in two minutes of use. Others note an apparent halving of battery life, although actual life remains stable.
Samsung has not yet officially communicated or deployed a dedicated fix, unlike the Galaxy Watch 4 which received a patch in January 2026 for similar bugs (dead sensors, Always-On display).
Temporary solutions and outlook
Clearing the cache or resetting the watch does not solve anything. The best approach is to ignore the display and rely on the remaining time estimate, which remains accurate.
A software fix is expected soon, as with previous models. In the meantime, optimize through power-saving settings to minimize concerns.
